KUNSTKAMPF

KUNSTKAMPF is a series of paintings which have been created for my Master’s thesis with the title „KampfKunst“ (German for „Martial- Arts“).

I chose this term to examine its meaning in both directions (Kampfkunst & Kunstkampf). Asking the questions of what the Art of Combat is and wherein the Combat in Art lies, the latter being dealt with in this work.

I found that the sculptures of Rodin and Camille Claudel have a special form of capturing movement, that shows a figure torn between peace and turmoil. A quarrel an artist experiences constantly. At the same time parallels can be drawn to the dynamics between duelists.
